Cory is in the liability department joining the firm in 2009. Prior to joining Butler Pappas, he specialized in commercial litigation, labor and employment law, and general civil litigation.
Mr. Person is a member of The Florida Bar and is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Middle and Northern Districts of Florida. He is also a board member of the George Edgecomb Bar Association.
Mr. Person graduated from Methodist University with a Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, in Political Science and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law. While in law school, Mr. Person served as president of the UNC Broun National Trial Team and UNC Trial Law Academy, and was Managing Editor of the UNC First Amendment Law Review. In addition, Mr. Person was a recipient of the Gressman-Pollitt award for exemplary skill in Appellate Advocacy.
Mr. Person is the author of Ignorance Isn't Bliss: What Employers Need To Know About The Immigration Reform Control Act, Lawyer Magazine, December 2007, and has co-authored Case Notes for the Labor and Employment Law Section of The Florida Bar.
Prior to law school, Mr. Person served as a non-commissioned officer in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Among the awards Mr. Person received for his service are the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Achievement Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
