Mr. Pierce is a member of the Defense Research Institute and served as President and Chairman from 1987 to 1988. He is also a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, Trial Attorneys of America, Products Liability Advisory Committee, and the International Association of Defense Counsel where he served as Director of its Trial Academy from 1983 to 1984. He was an original member and past President (1975-1976) of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, and was a founding member of the Lawyers for Civil Justice. For a number of years he was the Regional Chair of the annual meeting of the Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, and Mississippi Defense Lawyers Associations. In the course of participating in those organizations, Mr. Pierce has written extensively in all of their publications, and others, has spoken to numerous defense groups throughout the country and has been a spokesman for the organized defense bar to regional and national media organizations.
Mr. Pierce is a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, Farrah Order of Jurisprudence, Order of the Coif, Phi Alpha Delta and Omicron Delta Kappa. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who in America.
