Gerald T. Albrecht is a Partner at Butler Pappas.

Jerry has been with the firm for 24 years and serves on the firm's Executive Committee. Jerry's practice is primarily first party property coverage both for commercial insurance carriers and homeowner's carriers. Jerry has been practicing law since 1987. He is licensed to practice in all three Federal District Courts in the State of Florida. Jerry has handled cases throughout the United States and most notably tried, and won, the "Russian Roulette" wrongful death case.

Jerry is a frequent speaker and panelist on property coverage and arson and fraud issues. He is the author of "Truth of Consequences: An Analysis of the Concealment or Fraud Defense" and the author of "The Examination Under Oath-An Owner's Manual," both appearing in "For the Defense" magazine. Jerry is a frequent speaker for such organizations as the Defense Research Institute; the Florida Advisory Committee on Arson Prevention; the Insurance Committee on Arson Control; the International Association of Special Investigative Units; the Florida Insurance Fraud Education Counsel, and the Florida Windstorm Association. Jerry provides a number of presentations regarding trial tactics, litigation, and fire investigation.

Extended Biography

In 2008, Jerry took a leave of absence from the firm and joined the McCain/Palin campaign. He served as one of Governor Palin's advance representatives and traveled extensively throughout the campaign.

Jerry is a member of the American Bar Association (Tort and Insurance Practice and Litigation Sections); the Defense Research Institute; the Florida Bar; and the Hillsborough County Bar Association. He is a past-President of the Florida Advisory Committee on Arson Prevention (FACAP); and is presently the FACAP Rewards Committee Chairperson. Jerry is an Associate Member of the Lawyers for Civil Justice.

While Jerry was a student at Stetson University College of Law, he received the Victor O. Wehle Award for Outstanding Participation in Trial Practice, and was a Finalist in the American Bar Association Mock Trial Competition for the Southeast Region, as well as the Chester Bedell Memorial Mock Trial Competition in Florida in 1986. He received his Bachelor's degree in Political Science (with emphasis on International Relations) from the University of South Florida in 1982. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Stetson University College of Law in 1986.

Jerry has also written and produced a number of training videos, including such subjects as Recorded Statements, Examinations Under Oath, and Good Faith Claims Handling.
