He practices primarily in the firm's Appellate Department. He is a former judicial staff attorney to the Honorable Darryl C. Casanueva at the Florida Second District Court of Appeal.
Jared received his Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Florida in 2003, his Masters of Business Administration from Stetson University in 2006, and his Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law in 2006. During law school, he served as a Research Assistant, a Professor's Assistant, and a Teaching Fellow. Jared also taught a legal research laboratory class for first-year law students. He received the Student Employee of the Semester Award and was elected to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
Upon his acceptance to the Florida Bar, Jared joined the Florida Second District Court of Appeal as a central staff attorney. He later became a judicial staff attorney for Judge Casanueva. Jared was also the court's Law Student Program Coordinator, managing the court's internship program and acting as the court's liaison to law schools.
Jared is admitted to practice in all state courts of Florida and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. He is a member of the Florida Bar Association and the Hillsborough County Bar Association. He is currently Co-Chair of the Hillsborough County Bar Association Appellate Practice Section, and is a past liaison to the Thirteenth Circuit Court Professionalism Committee.
Since Jared joined Butler Pappas in 2012, his practice has focused on appeals and trial support. His experience involves litigation of appeals on the issues of property coverage, premises liability, sinkhole litigation, uninsured motorist coverage, motor vehicle liability and coverage, and attorneys' fee issues, in both state and federal courts. Jared's extensive and comprehensive experience in the appellate court provides him with a thorough understanding of the entire appellate process.
Notable recent opinions include: Atfeh v. Gichimu, 136 So. 3d 1274 (Fla. 5th DCA 2014) (reversing an award of attorneys' fees based on an improper proposal for settlement); Rodrigo v. State Farm Fla. Ins. Co., 2014 WL 1612494 (Fla. 4th DCA Apr. 23, 2014) (affirming summary judgment in favor of the insurer based on insured's failure to comply with a condition precedent, and failure to prove loss occurred due to a "named peril").
