Kathy's professional affiliations include DRI where she served on its Board of Directors Oct. 2005 - Oct. 2008; Vice Chair of Governance Committee; and Former Chair of the DRI Young Lawyers Committee. Kathy serves on numerous DRI committees including the Public Policy Committee and the Insurance Law Steering Committee. She is the Past-Chair of the United States Supreme Court Bar Admissions Swearing-In Ceremony Project; Annual Meeting Steering Committee member for four (4) annual meetings; and member of the Women in the Law Networking Committee. In addition, Kathy has been a speaker and a panelist at numerous seminars, including the Insurance Law Coverage Seminar in New York and the Insurance Coverage and Claims Practices Seminar in Chicago. She is presently serving as Vice Chair of DRI's Bad Faith Seminar in Washington, DC in June, 2011. She has published several articles in DRI's For the Defense on topics including bad faith, multiple claimants with limited liability coverage and insurance topics, and served as an editor and contributor on the Bad Faith Law Compendiums, the Protecting the Privilege project, and was a regional editor on the update to the Bad Faith Law Compendium on Unfair Claims Practices in each of the 50 states. In 2007 Kathy received DRI's Richard H. Krochock award.
Kathy is also a member of IADC where she has served as Chair of the Casualty Committee, Chair of the IADC Diversity Committee, Member of the Membership Committee for the Florida Region; Member of the General Convention Committee; and Member of the Insurance Member Task Force. She is active in the Tallahassee Chapter of ABOTA, organizing Justice Teaching among local middle and high schools with local attorneys and judges and will serve as its incoming Vice-President. She is also active in the William Stafford Inns of Court where she is a Master of the Bench.
Kathy has served as a panelist and speaker at numerous seminars on issues ranging from insurance coverage litigation, extracontractual exposure, casualty defense litigation and ethical concerns in the industry. She has also authored numerous articles for publication on bad faith, first and third party insurance coverage matters and nursing home issues.
