Sean P. Ravenel
Sean P. Ravenel is a Partner with Butler Pappas in the Tampa office. He practices in the subrogation department, focusing on several areas of large loss subrogation and self-insured recovery, including construction defects, crane accidents, industrial fire and flood losses, and product failure claims, as well as other complex multi-party subrogation matters.
Mr. Ravenel is a member of The Florida Bar and has been admitted to practice in all state courts in Florida as well as the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Hillsborough County Bar Association, and The Order of Barristers. Mr. Ravenel handles losses and claims in states throughout the Southeast, as well as many states in the mid-Atlantic, the Midwest, and the Northeast.
Mr. Ravenel is the author of Forcing The Issue: Virginia Courts Begin to Expand Recoveries in Tort Between Parties to a Contract, (National Association of Subrogation Professionals, Fall 2004); The Contagion of Example: Attacking the Root of the Problem in Lawyer Professionalism (The Federal Lawyer, Nov/Dec 2002); and Sowing the Seeds of Professionalism; The Problem with Professionalism in Legal Education (Florida Bar News, July 2001). He frequently gives presentations on subrogation recovery topics to adjusters and other insurance and subrogation professionals.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Ravenel served in the United States Marine Corps and then the U.S. Department of State. He also spent several years working in the mineral mining industry. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of La Verne in Athens, Greece, and his Juris Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law. While in law school, Mr. Ravenel served as Vice President of the Student Bar Association and interned at the Florida Supreme Court.
