Timothy R. Engelbrecht is a Senior Associate at Butler Pappas.
Timothy focuses the majority of his law practice representing insurance companies in the defense of first-party property and extra-contractual matters including Civil Remedy Notices of Insurer Violation and "bad faith" actions. These matters often involve claims and lawsuits by homeowners, condominium associations, and businesses for property damage and business interruption losses caused by hurricanes, sinkholes, water intrusion, fire, theft, and nuisance wildlife. Additionally, Timothy provides advice to insurance companies on a wide range of issues including insurance claim assignments and pre-suit claim handling, as well as some third-party liability and employer liability matters. Also, Timothy is a LEED Green Associate, having become certified by the Green Building Certification Institute through the US Green Building Council.
Timothy is licensed to practice law in Florida. Also, he is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. Prior to joining Butler Pappas, Timothy served as Staff Attorney (judicial law clerk) for the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida.
Timothy earned a Bachelor of Arts from St. Norbert College in DePere, Wisconsin. He was inducted into the Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society in Social Science. Timothy earned a Juris Doctorate magna cum laude from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. He served as Operations and Production Editor of Hamline Law Review and was a Regional Finalist at the ABA Negotiation Moot Court Competition. Timothy received the Dean's Scholarship and appeared on the Dean's Honor List. He also received four CALI Awards for achieving the highest grade in the classes of Property, Torts, Insurance Law, and National Security Law. During his final semester of law school, Timothy served as Judicial Extern to U.S. District Court Judge Ann D. Montgomery in the District of Minnesota.
